The Stokke Tripp Trapp is the classic used buy: solid beech, adjustable for years and easy to fix with spare parts. Check the serial number, the wood around the screw holes and whether the Baby Set is included. If the budget is tight, an IKEA Antilop or a Hauck Alpha does the job too.
The chair has been made in largely the same shape since the 1970s, so parts like seat plates, footrests, screws and the Baby Set are still sold. A ten-year-old chair can look new after a sanding and an oil, and it resells easily. That makes the risk of buying used low.
Check the colour carefully if it matters: the natural and white versions are the most common, while painted colours chip at the edges after years of use.
Every Tripp Trapp has a serial number on the inside of one of the side pieces. It tells you roughly when it was made and which accessories fit. Older chairs may need an extension glider or different hardware for the current Baby Set, so before buying a chair and a Baby Set separately, look up the serial on Stokke's compatibility list.
The Baby Set (backrest plus front bar) is what makes the chair usable from about six months. The newborn set, harness and tray are extras. A listing with everything included is worth more, but you can add parts later.
Many chairs use the same idea: Hauck Alpha+, Childhome Evosit, Kidsmill and lots of unbranded 'meegroeistoel' models. They are fine chairs at a lower price, but sellers sometimes list them under the Tripp Trapp name to get more clicks. A genuine one has the Stokke logo stamped or printed on the side and a serial number. No logo and no serial means you are looking at a copy and should pay copy prices.
A Tripp Trapp fits in a bike crate or on the back of a cargo bike, so pickups are easy. At home, set the seat plate so your child's elbows are at table height and the footrest so their feet rest flat with knees at a right angle. Re-adjust every few months as they grow. If the chair wobbles after reassembly, loosen all bolts, square the chair on a flat floor and tighten them again.
Ask the seller whether the chair stood in direct sun. Natural beech yellows unevenly, and you can see the line where a tray or plate sat.
The IKEA Antilop is light, wipes clean in seconds and costs a few euros used, which makes it a favourite with parents who hate cleaning wood grooves. The Stokke Nomi is a newer, more modern adjustable chair. Bloom and Peg Perego make tall, padded chairs that take more space and are harder to clean.
If you want a Tripp Trapp in a specific colour with the Baby Set and tray, describing that on vindje.com saves you from scrolling through dozens of bare chairs and copies.

Look for the Stokke logo on the side piece and the serial number on the inside. Copies have neither.
Often yes, but very old chairs may need extra parts. Check the serial number against Stokke's compatibility information first.
Natural beech chairs can be lightly sanded and oiled. Painted chairs can be touched up but are harder to make look new.
